NSSA CLASSIFICATION
NEW / UNCLASSIFED SHOOTERS
New/Unclassified shooters can participate in a NSSA Registered Skeet shoot. The results of their first shoot will be used to determine the shooter’s classification as shown by the table below. This tactic does put a new shooter at something of a disadvantage as often shooters who win their class, do so by shooting better than their class average. A better strategy is to use "Monthly Targets" to Classify.
MONTHLY TARGETS
Monthly targets are registered targets shot outside of a registered shoot. They can be used to classify a new shooter prior to competing in a registered shoot. Those targets will be submitted to the NSSA as registered target which can than be used to classify a shoot. Monthly Target rounds must be declared before shooting. They must be shot in blocks of 50 targets, two rounds with the same gauge gun. The NSSA charges $0.04 per target ($1.00 per round) for motnhly targets. A shooter will need to shoot a block of 50 atregts, two round, for each gauge they wish to classify in.
SHOOTER RECLASSIFICATION
Once a shooter is classified they will reclassify after every shoot and after every additional Monthly Target submission. Here a shooter will use the average of the last five registered events or Monthly targets. If a shooter has not completed five events, the shooter will use the average from all events and Monthly Targets.
